The Best Jobs for People Who Love To Travel - Introvert Whisperer

Introvert Whisperer / The Best Jobs for People Who Love To Travel - Introvert Whisperer The Best Jobs for People Who Love To Travel  For those of us more on the more introverted side of the scale, some job roles can be difficult. Open plan office spaces, meetings, and presentations can make an otherwise perfectly agreeable job a draining experience. While all of that is manageable, especially if you’re in a career you are passionate about, job selection should play a part if the work environment just isn’t right for you. Today more and more jobs can be done remotely or nomadically, jobs that up until a few years ago would require you to arbitrarily clock into an office at 9 am and clock out at 5 pm. There is still some mind-set change required to catch up with technological advancements, presenteeism is still overly prioritized over more important metrics such as performance and retention, but as industries begin to understand the benefits of allowing more flexible work, remote working will become more widespread. All of that being said, there is still a huge opportunity for more traditional jobs that do not rely on computers. If you have a more hands on skillset, it is likely your skills could be applicable abroad. To browse just some great jobs for people who love to travel, as well as some great tips for working abroad check out this new infographic by De Vere Hotels:

How To Succeed In Science And Engineering

How To Succeed In Science And Engineering Science, technology, engineering and math (STEM programs) have historically been the toughest majors, with science and engineering leading the way, according to an article in the New York Times. However, the STEM fields also have the largest potential to boost Americas economy, and that is why President Obama is placing a major emphasis on these programs. But, its not going to be easy. Politicians and educators have been trying to improve students test scores in the STEM fields for years, and they are running out of ideas. Currently, American students trail behind many foreign countries in STEM fields, and Washington is hoping to become more globally competitive through these fields. That is why Obama and industry groups have called on colleges to produce 10,000 more engineers a year and 100,000 new teachers with majors in STEM programs. Obama is hoping this can put America on the leading edge of STEM innovation. Step one: start early. Obama has put grade school students under the microscope, analyzing their STEM scores more closely than any other group and always promoting the fields as career options. His efforts have produced some promising results, as more college freshmen are becoming interested in STEM programs. However, for too many, the interest stops during their freshmen years because they cannot meet the demands of these rigorous courses. Nearly 40% of students planning engineering and science majors end up changing their major or failing to get any degree even though these students tend to have the highest SAT scores. Also, earning a STEM degree is becoming increasingly more challenging. Many freshmen level STEM classes are actually designed to weed students out, and unfortunately, they hit their mark far too often. Making these classes easier is not the answer. So, the Association of American Universities, which represents 61 of the largest research institutions, announced a five-year initiative to encourage professors to employ more interactive teaching techniques a plan many educators are hoping will increase student interest. Educators are trying to make the entry-level classes more about practical, real-world application and less about memorizing equations and facts. Also, they want their classes to be more discussion based instead professors just lecturing. But there are other factors affecting these programs, factors beyond the STEM programs control. Grade inflation in the humanities and social sciences has attracted a lot of students, even some STEM students because their grades historically tend to be the lowest among freshmen. College GPA has always been perceived as a strong indicator for early career success; however, a 3.5 in an English program is not necessarily better than a 2.5 in a STEM program. Many students transfer out of STEM classes to achieve a higher GPA, thinking they will find better jobs out of college. But, thats not exactly true because there are many more open jobs in STEM fields. The struggle has always been getting students to plunge through the difficult entry-level classes. But right now, a STEM degree is one of the most valuable degrees a student can have.

How To Take A Screenshot On Your Computer IT For Beginners: Taking Screenshots ChaptersWhy Take A ScreenshotHow To Do A Screen Shot On WindowsWhat Software Can You Install For The Best ScreenshotsTake A Screenshot With A SmartphoneIT for beginners is vital in today's world, as things move so fast it is the only way that technology novices don't get left behind. Change is the only thing that we can be sure of. Each day new innovations turn the experts in old technology into the beginners in new technology. The newcomers of current technology are becoming the inventors of the future.Within everything, we can see innovation, take the simple screenshot for example. Which is essentially the act of taking a photo of the screen of your device without a camera. I expect that its invention was as simple as someone looking at their screen feeling that they should be able to copy it. Voila, the screenshot is born in something as simple as an idea.Screenshots are incredibly useful, they are the digital answer to snipping our favourite article out of the newspaper. They can even be as functional as taking a picture of our programs to remember what you have installed or as useful as taking a screenshot of a problem on your PC's desktop so that you can get help from one of your kids later.Screenshots can also be fun and creative, you can use them with a markup feature to draw over pages and make corrections to your creative texts. No to mention how they can help you when you can't explain something and need to share your screen. Even if you have yet to take your first screenshot knowing how to take one will be invaluable one day when you can't find your pen or the article is too long to write down.

4 Singing Exercises to Practice Dynamics

4 Singing Exercises to Practice Dynamics Suzy S. As a singer, understanding and utilizing dynamics can turn a mediocre performance into a great one. Read on to learn some singing exercises to practice, as shared by Augustine, FL voice teacher  Heather L... Dynamics is a word that comes from the Greek word dynamo, meaning power. In the context of general music, we use it as a term for how loud or soft sounds are. Dynamics can make or break a song. Frankly, in the world of singing, sometimes the lack of or presence of dynamics can make a difference in whether a singer is regarded as great or not. Think of the best singers in the world and Ill bet that many have a tremendous sense of dynamics. The improvement of the use of dynamics in our singing voices comes right down to a word that I dont typically like to use as a voice teacher: control. The simple passing use of this word can often, maybe subconsciously, cause a singer to tense and strain. Control, however, is truly the thing that enables us to do much with our voices. Just make sure to maintain a free and open sound as you incorporate the concept of control in the following singing exercises. Learn and Practice Messa di Voce Perhaps the best singing exercise to help improve your vocal dynamics is messa di voce, an Italian phrase meaning place the voice.  To sing a messa di voce, you sustain one single pitch, getting louder, then softer.  The proper musical terms for getting louder and softer are crescendo and diminuendo, respectively.  Decrescendo is a word created in modern times to mean become softer, but it is not an Italian word or a proper musical term.  When using this exercise, be sure, as always, to use a warm, resonant sound and to stay connected to your breath. Remember, your sound begins at the bottom of the pelvic floor. Keep your shoulders floating in place; do not allow them to rise. Lip Trill Like a Revving Engine Another singing exercise to practice dynamics is singing lip trills, or lip bubbles, using messa di voce.  This is a great one that I learned from Celine Dion. Begin with a low breath, filling up your torso all the way around. Start at a comfortable low/middle position in your voice, trill up to a comfortable high point, and begin to sail down to your lowest register. As you slowly sail down in pitch, make stops along the way. On those stops, crescendo and then diminuendo. Itll sound a lot like a old drag car revving its engine! Not only does this singing exercise improve your ability to sing dynamically, but it will also help to warm up and strengthen your singing muscles. Laugh Out Loud Speaking of strengthening exercises, its essential that the muscles of your torso are strong enough for the control thats needed for great dynamics. Sing short ha, ha, ha sequences on a descending scale, making each ha very short, but warm and round. Youll notice quite a jumpy motion from your tummy as you instinctively work to produce short bursts of air. Yow-wow-wow In this exercise, youll sing a single pitch on yow-wow-wow with a loose, open jaw, as if youve just touched a hot stove. This loosens the face, especially your joints, which is vitally important in preventing tension. Lastly, remember that singing dynamics comes not only from phonationthe pitched sounds that our vocal folds producebut also from articulation. Our articulators are our teeth, our tongue, and our lips. To be clear, crisp articulation should be an inherent part of your singing voice.  You can use it, though, to sound even louder or softer than your phonation is. And as always, be yourself and sing with your own voice. Heather L. teaches singing, piano, acting, and more in Saint Augustine, FL, as well as through online lessons. What to Expect When Moving from Elementary to Middle School and Middle to High School

What to Expect When Moving from Elementary to Middle School and Middle to High School Whether your child is graduating from elementary school to middle school or from middle school to high school, the transition is a major one. Eileen Huntington, Co-founder of the Huntington Learning Center reminds parents that any time a student changes schools can be overwhelmingand particularly when the expectations of the student are higher in his or her new environment. Its critical for students to successfully navigate these leaping off points, says Huntington. She offers several tips for parents whose children are making such a transition: From elementary to middle school Stay organized. If your child is disorganized, it will rear its ugly head when he or she moves into middle school. Students in middle school must get used to taking classes from up to eight different teachers for the first timeand keeping track of assignments, projects and homework for each of those classes. Arm your child with a simple, but effective homework organizational system, such as a notebook in which to record assignments for each class each day. Hang a calendar in a central place in the home where your child can record upcoming assignment and test due dates so you can help him or her stay on track. Hand over the reins. In elementary school, many parents stay closely involved in their childs homework, but middle school is a whole new ballgame in terms of accountability. Your child must learn to take ownership of his or her academic life. Talk with his or her teachers about how to build and foster independence while still guiding your child toward school success. Focus on time management. Encourage your child to get into the nightly habit of reviewing to-dos, updating his or her homework notebook or planner with assignments and due dates, and tidying up the desk. Work together to develop an efficient nightly homework routine that includes prioritizing homework based on its due dates and making a to-do list for every study session. Emphasize the importance of balance. In middle school, many students become busier than ever, with an increased homework load, more time-intensive activities and a more active social schedule. Help your student adapt by teaching him or her to develop a daily routine that puts homework and school first and schedules in time for everything else thereafter. Your child must learn the importance of being efficient with ones time so that he or she can accomplish all of his or her have-tos and still have time for the want-tos as well. From middle school to high school Continue to encourage good organization. High school students must be capable of keeping track of multiple classes along with other responsibilities such as extracurricular activities. Help your teen establish a trusted organizational system for the backpack, locker, and study space. Research helpful organizational apps for the iPhone (such as myHomework or iStudiez Pro) that can aid your teens organizational skills. Transfer responsibility to your teen. When your teen transitions into high school, the responsibility becomes much greater than in middle school (and the workload becomes larger). Teach your teen to communicate regularly with teachers, develop a trusted study plan and seek help right away when he or she needs it. Keep focused on college. The college search and application process starts sooner than you think, so encourage your teen to pay a visit to the guidance or college counselor sometime during their late freshman or sophomore year. Its also critical that he or she stay focused on keeping up the grades. While extracurricular activities, sports and volunteer work are great resume-builders, it is more important that your teen stays dedicated to his or her academics. Be sure he or she understands that a cumulative grade point average means that every class matters, and again, asking for help as soon as he or she needs it is important. Start talking careers. High school is the start of your teens adulthood, and as he or she gets closer to college, its important to start thinking carefully about what he or she wants to study in college and what types of careers may suit his or her personality and strengths. Seek out opportunities to build upon those aptitudes and encourage your student to investigate internships, volunteer experiences and similar opportunities early in high school that will help prepare him or her to make those big choices in a few years. School is an evolution from grade to grade and from primary to secondary school, says Huntington. You can help prepare your child for each major milestone by gradually shifting more responsibility to your child, maintaining good communication between you and teaching your child to adopt effective study skills. More than anything, be there for your child as he or she makes his or her way through these big life changes. Listen, offer a good support system and be your childs biggest cheerleader. An iPod worth $8 billion English Listening Exercise

An iPod worth $8 billion English Listening Exercise I think one of the hardest things understand in English, or in any language you are learning, is humor, and especially more subtle humor, like sarcasm. When using sarcastic humor, we often say the opposite of what we mean, or believe, in an attempt to make it look ridiculous. Cues like the tone of the persons voice and their word choice are often the only way to understand that the speaker is using sarcasm. In the TED video below, comedian Rob Reid shows how silly some of the numbers were that movie and music industry representatives used recently to support anti-piracy laws in the U.S. and Europe. As you are watching the video below, try to notice the moment when it becomes clear that Reid is being sarcastic (hint: listen to the crowd).I think some _________ and ________ reasoning could really bring a great ____ to the debate. How does he show that the Motion Picture Association of Americas claim that the economy loses $58 billion per year to piracy is ridiculous?Music revenues are dow n by about $8 billion dollars a year since Napster ____ on the ____.So this small missing _____ here is ________.Why does the audience laugh when he says the above line and shows them the chart? How does he mock the job numbers? This is just one of the many ____ _______ statistics have to ___ ____ everyday. What little _______ wouldnt want a million and a half _____ worth of stolen _____ in his pocket? How many dollars worth of music can a iPod classic hold?
